Dark Sheik Explains Why Hoodslam Has Live Commentary For Fans At Shows
Dark Sheik explains why Hoodslam has live commentary for fans in attendance.
Hoodslam sets itself apart from other independent wrestling promotions in many ways. One of those ways is a benefit for fans that attend live shows, as the promotion will play live commentary for those fans.
In a new interview with Fightful Overbooked’s Indied podcast, Dark Sheik, who is the owner of Hoodslam, explained that the live commentary is a way to explain storylines and/or wrestlers to fans who might be new to the promotion.
“The first time I went to a show, I went to a Nitro where Goldberg beat Hogan actually, in Georgia. That was the first show I went to, and I was like, ‘Oh. We can’t hear Tony Schivanoe and Bobby Heenan, that’s so weird, I’m so used to hearing them when I watch wrestling.’ That’s it, simple as that. I just think it’s weird when people go for the first time and you don’t get to hear commentary. Every time I’ve watched on TV, I’ve heard the commentary. Also, I wanted Hoodslam to be funnier, I thought the commentary could help with that. When we first started, it was like, it might help to have someone out there explaining this to people, especially if they’re not wrestling fans. They just know the spectacle of wrestling, they don’t know what’s actually happening. It was considerate for them.”
