Darby Allin took getting hit by a bus as a sign that he should still climb Mount Everest.

AEW star Darby Allin was set to climb Mount Everest, but he suffered a broken foot on the March 13 episode of AEW Dynamite. Allin suffered another setback when he was hit by a bus on April 26, but he walked away with la broken nose.

Speaking on the Daly Migs Show,  Allin was asked to comment on how he’s doing after getting hit by a bus.

“I’m alive. It’s been a crazy few months, for sure, with Mount Everest having to be postponed til next year. Once I broke my foot, everybody said, maybe this is a sign that you shouldn’t climb Mount Everest.’ The first thing I said, maybe it’s a sign I should climb it next year.’ They’re like, stop, slow down. Then I got hit by a bus, and it’s, ‘Maybe it’s definitely a sign you shouldn’t climb Mount Everest.’ I was like, maybe it’s a sign I should climb it next year. I still am gonna climb Mount Everest. You can’t stop me,” Allin said.

Host Steve Migs joked that there aren’t any buses on Mount Everest, so Allin should be safe in that regard.

“[Laughs] Yeah, there’s no buses on Mount Everest. I’ll be good up there,” Allin said.

Allin was then asked to describe where his desire to climb the mountain came from. He made it clear that he wanted to do something that a wrestler had never done before. Allin recalled how he got hurt on the March 13 episode of AEW Dynamite and reiterated that he intended to climb Mount Everest in 2025.

“It just popped into my head one night, and I was like, man, I really want to do that. It’s something to push my body to the absolute limits. Everybody sees what I do physically in AEW, but I thought, man, what’s something a pro wrestler has never done before? So I started thinking, Mount Everest. That sounds insane. So I just instantly [started] jumping on the phone with a bunch of climbing companies, and they’re like, you need experience. You can’t just go to climb Mount Everest. I was like okay. So I’ll go through any training program you have, and I completed all the training programs. They told me, ‘We have never seen someone succeed in mountain climbing as fast as you have.’ They’re like, ‘You’re gonna do amazing on Mount Everest.’ So I was all excited. I was like, yeah, I’m gonna kick Mount Everest’s ass. This is gonna be awesome. Then two weeks before I was supposed to fly out, I broke my foot wrestling at the show. I broke my foot in the first minute of the match and I wrestled an extra 13 minutes on the broken foot. It was so hard, it was miserable. Then I got three metal plates put in my foot, so I’m recovering from that. But I fully plan on climbing Mount Everest again next year. I’m not taking this as a sign to stay away from the mountain. I’m taking it as a sign to kick ass next year. So I’m ready to rock,” Allin said.

Allin went on to say that he wanted to climb Mount Everest before, but now he is even more eager, as it was ripped away from him. He stated that he was looking forward to climbing the mountain in 2025. Allin also joked that people said he should get put in a bubble so he stays in one piece.

“It’s crazy. I was like, I want to climb this, but now I really want to climb it. When it was ripped away from me, knowing how good training was going and everybody’s saying, ‘You’re gonna be amazing, this is awesome.’ My guide, who was gonna climb with me, climbed Everest 22 times, and he told me, ‘You’re gonna kick this mountain’s ass.’ I was like, ‘Yeah.’ [Laughs] Then to have it ripped away, I’m like, ‘No,’ [laughs] but like I said, I have to wait until next April because you can only climb it two months out of the year. So I’ll wait, but I’ll be ready to rock, and hopefully, I stay in one piece in a year, I don’t know. People say maybe you gotta put this kid in a bubble for a year and [keep] him in one piece,” Allin said.
