Daniel Cormier Trying Out For WWE Commentary Position Following UFC 230 Bout
Daniel Cormier is thinking about his future after UFC 230.
During a media scrum in Las Vegas, Cormier said he will be heading to Orlando to tryout for a WWE commentary position following his UFC 230 fight.
“If I didn’t have this fight, I have been talking to the WWE because they wanted me to go in and do an audition as a member of the commentary team,” said Cormier. “Because of the fight, I had to push it back. There may be some DC in WWE shit coming. After the fight, I’ll go to Orlando and do my tryout.”
Along with being a double champion, Cormier does commentary and desk work for the UFC.
Cormier is a longtime wrestling fan who has interacted with, and upset, wrestlers and wrestling fans in the past. Last December, Cormier called out The Young Bucks, Hangman Page, Flip Gordon and others for their “gymnastics” during a ROH bout.
The two sides later squashed their beef.
Cormier also got involved in a WWE-style brawl with Brock Lesnar at UFC 226 in July. The post-fight shoving was to setup a potential fight between the two in early 2019. No fight has been announced at this time. During the same media scrum, Cormier joked that if he and Brock were to meet in a WWE ring, he would no sell Lesnar’s offense.
Before Cormier can think about fighting Lesnar or the WWE commentary booth, he’ll meet Derrick Lewis for the UFC Heavyweight Title at UFC 230 on Nov. 3.
