Daniel Bryan Talks About His Dream Match
Daniel Bryan has a surprising dream match opponent: Brock Lesnar.
Michael Cole interviewed the SmackDown Live General Manager as part of a weekly interview segment on WWE.com. The interview covered many topics, with the beginning of it focused on SummerSlam. Cole asking Bryan how he felt about the pay per view’s main event, Brock Lesnar vs. Randy Orton.
Bryan talked about how he wished he could have been in Shane McMahon’s shoes.
“Shane ran out there and whenever you get into the ring, you gotta expect whatever’s gonna happen. I wish I was cleared because I would’ve loved to run out there. My dream match was always against Brock Lesnar,” Bryan said.
Cole was very surprised by Bryan’s answer and asked him why we wanted to face The Beast Incarnate in a match.
“I think that one of the things that appealed to me about the fans is that I’ve always been an underdog, right? And what bigger underdog match is there then Brock Lesnar vs. Daniel Bryan. That’s like David vs. Goliath. And I also think that he’s never wrestled or fought anybody like me before,” Bryan said.
Another part of the dream match for Bryan was that Lesnar might not be able to rely on his strength alone.
“There’s also this other component where he’s this bully whose never really had to fight from underneath. That will only get you so far, right? Sometimes heart is more important than toughness,” Bryan said.
There have been rumors in the past few weeks of a possible in ring return for Bryan, but nothing has been confirmed by WWE.
