Daniel Bryan Says He’s Replacing WWE Championship With A More Sustainable Strap

We might be seeing a new version of the WWE Championship if Daniel Bryan has his way.

The current version of the WWE Title was introduced by The Rock in 2013, replacing John Cena’s “spinner” championship. The new champion, Daniel Bryan appeared on WWE Now ahead of his title defense against AJ Styles at tonight’s WWE TLC, he said that he wants a new title belt — one that didn’t come from a dead cow.

“The Yes Lock is going back to its origins and it’s going to be called the LeBell Lock now, because the ‘Yes Movement is dead. I’m going to take this leather strap that was made from a skinned cow — that I like to name Daisy — and I am going to replace it with something sustainable, something better. The ‘new’ Daniel Bryan is going create a new world that these people don’t have any part of. Most of you probably don’t deserve to have a part of it either.” Bryan said.

There have been several modifications to championship belts in the past without swtiching to completely new designs. Naomi had a glowing Smackdown Women’s Championship, Edge had a “Rated R Superstar” spinner championship as well. Bryan actually said years ago on the Solomonster Sounds Off Podcast that he would like a hemp championship.

Fightful will have full, live coverage of WWE TLC at this link, and a live post-show podcast five minutes after the broadcast ends.
