Daniel Bryan Had Instant Chemistry With An Unknown Dean Ambrose In 2007

Daniel Bryan is heralded as one of the best wrestlers of all-time. He’s so good, he can wrestle a nobody and turn them into a superstar.

To promote Showcase Mode in WWE 2K19, Bryan sat down with Will Power. When asked if anyone surprised him with the chemistry they had, Bryan said “not particularly.” However, he did share a story about a thrown together match against a future WWE champion.

“I Had a Wednesday show on the independents, which is very rare. I flew in, my flight got delayed, I was in the show. I was wrestling a guy that I’ve never wrestled before. I was changing in the car. We are in the main event and I literally have to go from the car into the building to wrestle this match without warming up with this guy that I’ve never wrestled before. I was like, ‘Oh no, this is going to be rotten.’ It turned out to be the guy who would become Dean Ambrose. I was just expecting the worst because sometimes on the independents you can get in there with somebody who’s not very good and I was like, ‘wow this guy’s really really good.’

“We instantly had this chemistry.”

The match in question took place on December 5, 2007 at MPW Rise Up. Since then, Bryan and Ambrose have wrestled dozens of times in WWE, most notably during the Team Hell No and Shield feud in 2013.

You can check out the full interview with Will Power below. In it, Bryan discusses not playing current video games and how New Power propelled him to the WrestleMania main event.
