Daniel Bryan Calls Fans “Fickle” For Staying Silent During His Royal Rumble Bout Against AJ Styles
Daniel Bryan comments on the quiet crowd at WWE Royal Rumble.
Fans at home may have noticed that the Phoenix crowd didn’t seem interested in the WWE Title bout between Daniel Bryan and AJ Styles at last night’s Royal Rumble. Despite good in-ring action, the crowd never got behind either superstar, leading to a flat finish involving interference by Erick Rowan.
In a backstage interview, done in-character, Bryan discussed the “fickle” crowd.
“I was proven right about these fans being fickle. The entire WWE Universe being fickle,” stated Bryan. “That was someone of the best wrestling that these people have ever seen. And do you know what they’re doing? They’re sitting on their hands. They’re not even cheering for their hero AJ Styles. Because they are 100 percent, what I have always said they were, FICKLE! They cheer one minute, they don’t care the next. That’s the exact same thing they did to me. When we were out in the ring, I felt the silence. Invigorated by the silence. Knowing that the silence proves me right and knowing that it hurts AJ Styles’ very soul. I’m not out there to impress the people or make them cheer or boo. I’m out there to change the world.”
Bryan successfully retained his WWE Title against Styles following the interference from Rowan. If you missed anything for last night’s Royal Rumble, check out Fightful’s post-show podcast reviewing all the action.
