Daniel Bryan Asks About Cesaro’s RAW Contract, Cesaro Responds
From the very beginning, Cesaro expressed disappointment he was not drafted to WWE's blue brand, but that doesn't mean that SmackDown is not interested in the "Swiss Superman's" services.
SmackDown GM Daniel Bryan took to Twitter to ask Cesaro when his RAW contract ends, teasing the red brand. Cesaro has been going through a rough time on RAW, being paired up with Sheamus after not getting a singles title opportunity following their best-of-7 series. Cesaro has also said in interviews that he did not want to be on RAW during the WWE Draft, but on SmackDown, where he thinks the show caters more to actual wrestling and not focused solely on storylines.
Cesaro's interest was certainly piqued and responded to the former WWE Champion's tweet.
It wouldn't be the first time a superstar switched brands since the WWE draft — It's already happened as Jack Swagger moved from RAW to SmackDown.
Cesaro concluded a grueling 7-match series against Sheamus that began at SummerSlam and ended at Clash of Champions. The winner would have gotten a title shot, but since neither wrestler won the series – the 7th match ended in a no contest – RAW GM Mick Foley decided to give both Sheamus and Cesaro a WWE Tag Team Title opportunity. In the best-of-7 series, Sheamus took a commanding 3-0 lead, but Cesaro battled back to win the following 3 matches to force a 7th match to be made at Clash of Champions.
Bryan shares Cesaro's sentiments about SmackDown being the "wrestler's show." When Bryan was the Intercontinental Champion in 2015, he's said in interviews that he wanted to make the Intercontinental Champion the focus of SmackDown, where people could tune in and watch wrestling, not soap operas.
