Dana White Says Conor McGregor Will Fight In 2018

Dana White says Conor McGregor will fight for the first time in over five hundred days.

The UFC Lightweight Championship has not been contested since McGregor's last bout at UFC 205. In the meantime, Tony Ferguson won the Interim Lightweight Championship at UFC 216 by defeating Kevin Lee. Ferguson and Khabib Nurmagomedov were scheduled to fight for the Undisputed Lightweight Championship at UFC 223 but Ferguson pulled out with a injury.

Now according to UFC President Dana White, the interim title will go away and Nurmagomedov will face his new opponent UFC Featherweight Champion Max Holloway and the Lightweight Championship will be on the line. White has denied McGregor will be "stripped" and he also said in the UFC 223 pre-fight press conference that McGregor will be back in the cage this year.

"Conor is coming back this year, one hundred percent will fight this year. We will see how this thing plays out and we will go from there," said White.

He did not mention if McGregor will be fighting the winner of Holloway and McGregor.

Fightful MMA will have live coverage and a recapping podcast for UFC 223 which includes the UFC Lightweight Championship fight.
