Dan Lambert Wants Cain Velasquez To Join Junior Dos Santos In Fight Against AEW
Junior Dos Santos and Cain Velasquez had one of the great heavyweight MMA trilogies in the history of the sport with Valesquez ultimately winning the war.
The two men headlined the first-ever UFC on FOX show with JDS finishing Valesquez in 64 seconds by KO. Valesquez would avenge the loss, winning a unanimous decision and then stopping JDS in the fifth round in the rubber match.
Since their trilogy, both men have made the transition to the world of pro wrestling.
Speaking to Marc Raimondi of ESPN, JDS commented on the possibility of a fourth match in the wrestling ring.
“You know what, as soon as I start feeling good about that, I thought about that. Maybe we can have the fourth one. Cain Valesquez was trying to do this as well. You never know. I’m not going to set goals right now for me. I’m just on the wave and I want to enjoy everything and give the best of me to have good performances over there and whatever happens is going to be good,” he said.
American Top Team founder and AEW manager Dan Lambert offered a different path.
“I’ll throw a possibility out there, maybe Cain Velasquez is a real old-school wrestling fan and instead of looking for a fourth fight with Junior, maybe he wants to join the good guys and help us smoke these idiots,” he said.
JDS added, “That would be great, actually.”
JDS is set to make his pro wrestling debut on Friday at AEW Rampage when he teams with The Men of the Year (Scorpio Sky & Ethan Page) against The Inner Circle (Chris Jericho, Jake Hager, and Sammy Guevara).
As for Velasquez, he will be part of AAA in December.
