Damian Priest: We’re Cooking Right Now
Damian Priest comments on the new era of WWE.
WrestleMania XL Sunday saw a changing of the guard with the two world championships changing hands. Cody Rhodes defeated Roman Reigns in the main event to win the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship and end Roman’s historic reign. To begin the new, Drew McIntyre defeated Seth Rollins to become the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion, but almost immediately lost the title when Damian Priest cashed in his Money in the Bank briefcase.
At the WrestleMania XL Sunday press conference, Priest was asked by Graham GSM Matthews of Bleacher Report as to where he fits in with Cody wanting to be an active champion.
“Where we’re going, where we’re heading, have no idea. This new era in the company, I mean, everybody can feel it. Everybody can sense it. We’re on a roller coaster, man. We don’t know where we’re heading. But this ride, it’s gonna take a minute. We’re cooking right now. Obviously, all our sell-outs, the business that we’re doing, the amount of eyeballs, this is the hottest the business has ever been. Everybody obviously likes to compare us to the Attitude Era. Man, we’re doing some things the Attitude Era would have dreamed of, and I’m proud to be one of the figureheads right now. With this [title], I solidify myself as one of the people that we’re gonna be looking at as to lead. That’s something that I’m humbled and proud of. So how do I keep myself here? The same thing I’ve been doing. Just be better tomorrow than I was yesterday,” he said.
After WWE Raw, Priest announced he signed a new contract with WWE this year. You can find his full comments by clicking here.
Priest is set to face Jey Uso as the first challenger for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.
