Here is your fight size update for WWE Friday Night SmackDown and AEW Rampage on Friday, August 18, 2023.

WWE SmackDown

–  Bianca Belair was asked about her win in an interview, but Bayley and IYO SKY attacked her backstage. SKY smashed her leg with a chair. 

– Paul Heyman was asked to provide an update on The Bloodline, and he declined. He then got a phone call and announced that Jimmy Uso would be live next week.

– Edge faced Sheamus. Beth Phoenix, Edge’s wife, was in the crowd, and she looked emotional. The WWE Hall of Famer ultimately won the thrilling match and emotionally celebrated his win after the bell.

– Grayson Waller hosted the Grayson Waller Effect with WWE United States Champion Rey Mysterio and Santos Escobar. Mysterio commented on his title win. Waller tried to stir up some tension, as he said Rey stole Escobar’s opportunity. Escobar said the only person he was angry at was Austin Theory. He made it clear that he respected Rey. Theory interrupted and claimed that he was played when Rey got a title shot. Adam Pearce came out, as did LA Knight. Knight challenged Theory to a match for a shot at the WWE United States Championship.

– LA Knight faced Austin Theory. Before the bell, The Miz came to ringside and joined the commentary team. The Miz talked trash about Knight during the bout. Knight stared him down and threw Theory into the former WWE Champion. Later in the match, The Miz distracted Knight. Knight clotheslined him over the ropes, and Theory rolled Knight up for the win

– The Street Profits (Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins) faced The O.C. (Karl Anderson and Doc Gallows). Bobby Lashley celebrated with the Street Profits after the match.

– John Cena and other stars appeared in video messages and thanked Edge on his 25th anniversary.

– A video package highlighted Edge’s career.

– WWE Women’s Champion IYO SKY and Bayley faced Charlotte Flair and Bianca Belair. Belair pinned Bayley to win the hard-fought match.

– Edge commented on his future in a post-show promo.

– Sheamus commented on his special match with Edge and shared how they celebrated.

AEW Rampage

– Aussie Open (Kyle Fletcher and Mark Davis) defeated Brother Zay and Ethan Page to retain the ROH World Tag Team Championship. In a post-match promo, Aussie Open vowed to prove that they were the best at AEW All In.

– Rey Fenix defeated Komander in a thrilling match.

– Johnny TV congratulated QT Marshall for his success in AAA.

– In an interview, Britt Baker looked ahead to the AEW Women’s World Championship match at AEW All In and reflected on her road up to this point. She said winning the gold would be a full-circle moment. 

– Hikaru Shida and Skye Blue defeated Toni Storm and Ruby Soho. Britt Baker got involved in a chaotic post-match brawl.

– The Hardys (Matt and Jeff Hardy) set their sights on Aussie Open (Mark Davis and Kyle Fletcher) and challenged them to a title match. 

– Sammy Guevara scored a decisive victory against Jon Cruz.

– The Righteous (Vincent, Dutch, amd Stu Grayson) are coming to AEW.

 

In a vignette, Nyla Rose discussed her journey in AEW and reminded everyone that she was the Native Beast. 

– Mark Davis vowed to destroy The Hardys (Matt and Jeff Hardy).
