Dalton Castle Was Not Proud Of His Run As ROH World Champion

Dalton Castle knows he has what it takes.

“The Party Peacock” Dalton Castle climbed to the top of the mountain at Ring Of Honor’s Final Battle pay-per-view in 2017 where he defeated Cody to become ROH World Champion. Castle held onto the title until the summer of 2018 and had to give drop the belt because he was wrestling with a broken back for two straight years and the injury became unbearable. Castle shared that information during SummerSlam weekend at Sam Roberts’ live show and stated the following:

“Alright now life is pretty boring because I’m injured. I got hurt and here’s the truth about the injury, I broke my back everybody – pretty cool huh? And we’ve decided, several doctors thought that it might have been two years ago I broke it so I won a World Championship with a broken freaking back.”

Castle returned to Ring Of Honor in October after four months of rehabilitation and he is getting back into the swing of things and is set to meet RUSH at Ring Of Honor and New Japan Pro Wrestling’s G1 Supercard show. Although Castle will be spotlighted on a card that will unfold inside of Madison Square Garden, his goal is to get the ROH World Title back because he feels that he can have a better run than his last.

“As champion, I don’t think I did nearly as well as I would have liked,” Castle admitted to Mirror Sport. “For me, it was more about the chase and the ambition to gain the title, that was the real victory. But I’m not proud that I wasn’t able to hold on to the title and perform to the fullest potential each time. So that leaves a lot of motivation for me, which is all the more reason for me to gain the title and get back to what I think I can be.”

The ROH World Championship will be defended at G1 Supercard as the title will hang above the ring while Jay Lethal, Matt Taven and Marty Scurll battle it out to capture the company’s top prize in a Ladder match.
