Crowd Boos Crown Jewel Mentions At WWE Evolution And Raw; Audience Mics Lowered
It doesn’t matter who you are in WWE, if you mention Crown Jewel, you will get booed.
At WWE Evolution, the first-ever all-women’s pay-per-view, Michael Cole plugged the Nov. 2 Crown Jewel event, a show where women are not allowed to compete. When a promo package was played in the arena, the crowd booed, leading to the company shutting off the in-arena video.
On the replay of the show, the crowd volume is turned down to make the boos less noticeable.
Things didn’t get any better on Raw, where the mentions of Crown Jewel were once again booed.
The boos for Crown Jewel first started at SmackDown 1000 during the Undertaker’s promo. Since then, every time the show has been brought up on WWE television, the crowd has voiced their displeasure.
“Last Week Tonight” host John Oliver recently did a bit on the boos, saying, “Do you know how clearly bad something has to be to get wrestling fans to boo a wrestling event…at a wrestling event?”
