Countdown To WWE Wrestlemania 33 #32 ‘Mania 33 Predictions

Every day from March 1 until WWE Wrestlemania 33 on April 2, Fightful will be bringing you the Countdown To WWE Wrestlemania 33. Each day, you will be getting a top 10 list or an event preview or statistics/figures from past ‘Mania events and everything in between.

In today’s column, I'll be giving my WWE Wrestlemania 33 Predictions. WWE Wrestlemania 33 is the biggest wrestling event of the year and I will be giving you my picks on who will walk away victorious.

WWE Universal Title Match

Goldberg (Champion) vs. Brock Lesnar

13 years after their first encounter at WWE Wrestlemania 20, we get the ‘Mania rematch that only Goldberg’s wife and kid want to see. Goldberg has competed a total of three times since returning to the WWE and has spent less than 10 minutes in the ring altogether. If anybody believes that these two will pull out a miracle and put a good match here, you are crazier that the WWE creative team. If this closes the show, then expect the crowd in attendance to crap all over this one and rightfully so.

My Pick: Brock Lesnar

WWE World Title Match

Bray Wyatt (Champion) vs. Randy Orton

This feud, supernatural aspects and all, has been great in my opinion and the blow off should be an amazing spectacle to see. Wyatt has been looking strong as the champion, with victories over John Cena, AJ Styles and Luke Harper. Orton has returned to his old school ways, which is the way his character should be and hopefully it stays this way. There should be no way that Wyatt loses the gold here, and a feud with AJ Styles post-‘Mania would be amazing.

My Pick: Bray Wyatt

WWE United States Title Match

Chris Jericho (Champion) vs. Kevin Owens

This match should have been title versus title or a WWE Universal Title Match, but WWE caters to the old timers and arguably the best feud in the company is relegated to an afterthought. The attack Owens puts on Jericho during the Festival Of Friendship should have been a turning point for Owens as a strong heel champion, but it was just fodder for a Jericho return and a Goldberg title win. No matter how much more prestige I feel this match should’ve gotten in the end, this should be a candidate for the match of the night.

My Pick: Kevin Owens

WWE Raw Women’s Title Match (Elimination Match)

Bayley (Champion) vs. Charlotte vs. Sasha Banks vs. Nia Jax

Last year at WWE Wrestlemania 32, a triple threat match between Charlotte, Becky Lynch and Sasha Banks was arguably the best match on the show. A year later, the four pack of Bayley, Charlotte, Nia Jax and Sasha Banks have the same opportunity, and with the elimination match rules, this could be better than what we got last year. A Sasha Banks heel turn can be seen a mile away, whether it happens tonight or tomorrow night on Raw is the only mystery. Nia Jax is the dark horse here, but a lot of the matches result can also depend on when the WWE pulls the trigger on the heel turn. Bayley has done a serviceable job as the champion, but in the end, she is better as the person chasing the gold and not holding the gold.

My Pick: Nia Jax

WWE Intercontinental Title Match

Dean Ambrose (Champion) vs. Baron Corbin

This match should have been a No DQ Match or something along those lines, because these two have been going at each other with violent intentions over the last few weeks. Ambrose is a made man and it is time to get Corbin to the next level, a level he was briefly at during his time in WWE NXT. The argument can also be made that Corbin is the only person to win the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal and be pushed properly by the WWE after the win, something that could be capped off at WWE Wrestlemania 33.

My Pick: Baron Corbin

WWE Raw Tag Team Title Match (Ladder Match)

Karl Anderson & Luke Gallows (Champions) vs. Big Cass & Enzo Amore vs. Cesaro & Sheamus

Prior to this past week’s WWE Raw, I was sitting in my recliner and a thought came to mind…there isn’t a ladder match at this year's ‘Mania. Less than three hours later, that thought turned out to be a useless one because the ‘Mania tradition of a ladder match will continue for a third year. All three teams are excellent inside of the ring and all of their styles should mesh well under the ladder match setting. Using the process of elimination, I do not feel that Cesaro & Sheamus are getting the gold back and there are rumors that Big Cass will be turning towards a singles run soon, which leaves one team left to take the gold home.

My Pick: Karl Anderson & Luke Gallows

WWE Smackdown Women’s Title Match

Alexa Bliss (Champion) vs. Mickie James vs. Becky Lynch vs. Naomi vs. Carmella vs. Natalya vs. TBA

The real question heading into this match is what kind of match it will be, because a stipulation has yet to be announced as of this writing. No matter what the stipulation winds up being, I have the feeling that the match quality will suffer because the match would’ve been better served as a singles match. The other question is whether or not any mystery competitors will take part in the match, due to the “any woman on the Smackdown roster can compete” clause.

My Pick: Naomi

WWE Cruiserweight Title Match

Neville (Champion) vs. Austin Aries

This match has been relegated to the pre-show, but no matter where this match lies on the card, we could be getting something special tonight. Aries has been nothing short of amazing since returning from the eye injury, while Neville has really found himself since turning heel and joining the cruiserweight division. If wrestling fans do not turn into the pre-show to watch this match, then they will truly be missing out on something special.

My Pick: Austin Aries

Unsanctioned Match

Triple H vs. Seth Rollins

I am usually not that excited for a Triple H match on any wrestling card, but something is telling me that we may be getting an all-time classic tonight. The big question heading into the match is just how healthy the previously injured knee of Rollins is. Also, one would think that there will be interference from Samoa Joe, which will lead to Finn Balor returning to even the odds. Rollins didn’t rehab his knee to get to ‘Mania to stink up the joint, expect one hell of a brawl for as long as it lasts.

My Pick: Seth Rollins

The Undertaker vs. Roman Reigns

It has been a few months since the two wrestlers first collided at the Royal Rumble, where fans gave Reigns a huge amount of crap for eliminating The Undertaker. If The Undertaker were to suffer a second defeat at Wrestlemania, the fans may riot and I may be covering something other than a wrestling event. Even if The Undertaker walks away victorious, there may be a riot if Roman Reigns simply lands any offense on the WWE legend. This is a no win situation, because either the hated Reigns will defeat the much older Undertaker or ‘Taker is going to bury a main event level superstar who is decades younger than him.

My Pick: Roman Reigns

AJ Styles vs. Shane McMahon

AJ Styles arguably had one of the greatest debut years a wrestler can have in the WWE and how does he get rewarded?…With a pointless match against Shane McMahon. To make matters even worse is that unless there is a last second change, this match will be a regular wrestling match, which doesn’t play to the strengths of Shane McMahon in any way. However, the one good thing is that Styles is an amazing wrestler and either way, should be carrying McMahon to a quality match.

My Pick: AJ Styles

John Cena & Nikki Bella vs. The Miz & Maryse

We all know what John Cena, Nikki Bella and The Miz bring to a match, but what Maryse will bring to the ring after a 5 year layoff? Cena will be taking time off after this match to film a few movies, while Bella has been dealing with more issues following neck surgery. The Miz and Maryse have been one of the highlights of the Smackdown brand this year and getting a somewhat high profile match against the WWE power couple is an apt reward. With the WWE power couple taking some time off after the event, at least in Cena’s case, it’s time to give the evil power couple the win.

My Pick: The Miz & Maryse

4th Annual Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal

While in the end, this is just an ordinary battle royal, it is becoming something I am looking forward to at each Wrestlemania. The past winners of this match have been Cesaro (year one), Big Show (year two) and Baron Corbin (year three). The sad thing is that Braun Strowman, Big Show and Sami Zayn, who all had great years or got themselves into great shape, are thrown in. While I would like to see Show get the win since this is his final Wrestlemania, I believe it goes a different way.

My Pick: Braun Strowman
