Corey Graves: I Have No Interest In Getting In Ring Shape, Wouldn’t Trade Commentary For The World
Corey Graves doesn’t seem to have interest in an in-ring return.
Corey Graves, despite being cleared for action a few months ago, has no interest in getting in-ring shape.
Graves, who currently serves as Monday Night Raw’s color commentator, has become one of the staples of WWE commentary in recent years as he has commentated for Raw, Smackdown, and NXT since joining the booth in 2014 following his in-ring retirement. In a new interview with The Athletic, Graves once again confirmed that he has been cleared for in-ring action but has “no interest in getting in ring shape.”
“Three years ago, I might have had a different answer,” Graves said. “But I have grown so confident and comfortable in this new role that I’m in, I wouldn’t trade it for the world.”
Despite these comments, Graves has previously said that he would be open to doing in-ring stuff “once in a blue moon”.
Elsewhere in the interview, Graves talked about making himself as valuable as possible following his career-ending injury.
“I thought to myself, man, I dedicated my life to coming to WWE and being a WWE Superstar. That option got taken away because of medical reasons,” Graves said. “But I’m still here; I’m not going to let them kick me out, you know what I mean? I’m going to make myself as valuable as possible.”
Graves will be on the call for both Night One and Night Two of WrestleMania 38 this year, which Fightful will have live coverage of. Fightful will also have post-shows following both shows on our YouTube channel.
