Colin Cowherd Says Kyrie Irving Is Macho Man, Isaiah Thomas Is Koko B. Ware

Even in the annals of national sports talk radio shows, pro wrestling has a presence in the biggest of critics.

Colin Cowherd, a sports talk radio show host for FOX, made an unusual comparison regarding pro wrestling fans during a basketball segment.

On his radio show, Cowherd talked about the recent trade between the NBA's Boston Celtics and Cleveland Cavaliers in which the Celtics sent a second-round draft pick in the 2020 NBA Draft as the final piece to getting superstar point guard Kyrie Irving. Cowherd equated the trade to the Celtics getting a Hulk Hogan, John Cena type of superstar while the Cavaliers got a second-rate wrestler.

Cowherd, a longtime critic of pro wrestling, said there are only seven wrestlers throughout history that have truly mattered and "moved the needle," but only named six wrestlers.

"Think about pro wrestling. Pro wrestling fans are a lot like NBA analytics nerds. They are, let's be honest, most didn't play the games. They talk about a lot of things, but even in pro wrestling, in the history of pro wrestling, there have been thousands of pro wrestlers. Seven have mattered, seven have moved the needle. Macho Man, Ric Flair, Hulk Hogan, The Rock, Stone Cold and John Cena. Sorry, Doinks The Clown didn't move the needle. The Bumblebee Brothers, Koko B. Ware, Bam Bam Bigelow, Ravishing Rick Rude, The Honky Tonk Man, those are second-round draft picks and guys coming off the bench who aren't in the game with four minutes left. I'll take Stone Cold Steve Austin. LeBron [James] wants to play with luxury items, not a 16-year-old from Lithuania who won't be around when games are decided. I said from the beginning, 'Get the superstar, win the trade.' Good luck with Koko B. Ware. I get the Macho Man, Kyrie Irving," Cowherd said.

This isn't the first time the Cavaliers and their star player LeBron James have been linked to wrestling. James is a pro wrestling fan and The Undertaker was present at Quicken Loans Arena, where the team plays, hoping to meet with James, but James turned down the invitation.
