Cody Rhodes Return Bout Set For AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam On 9/22

Cody Rhodes will return on September 22 inside Arthur Ashe Stadium and Maxwell Jacob Friedman and Brian Pillman Jr. are on a collision course.

Cody Rhodes has been out of action since August 4 when Malakai Black made quick work of him at AEW Dynamite: Homecoming. Now, it has been announced that Cody will return on Wednesday, September 22 at Arthur Ashe Stadium in Queens, New York to once again go one-on-one with Malakai.

In the weeks since Cody went away, Black has continued to decimate members of Cody’s Nightmare Family.

Also on the September 8 episode of AEW Dynamite, Maxwell Jacob Friedman was angrily tearing apart the audience in Cincinnati, Ohio, venting after losing at AEW All Out to Chris Jericho. Cincinnati happens to be the home of Brian Pillman and in the audience, his sister and his aunt Linda were among those being verbally berated by MJF.

Brian Pillman Jr. would come out to defend his family and this would lead to him being attacked by Wardlow and Brian would also have to watch his partner, Griff Garrison, be attacked as well. Later, it was announced that Brian had put in a request with Tony Khan to meet Maxwell Jacob Friedman in a match at Arthur Ashe Stadium. As of now, this match isn’t official.
