Archer’s journey to the finals saw him defeat Colt Cabana in the first round, followed by Cody’s brother Dustin Rhodes in the semifinals. Cody, on the other hand, got to the finals by defeating Shawn Spears, followed by Darby Allin in the semifinals.
As the new champion, Cody will now have to prepare for his first title defense, going up against the winner of a Battle Royal taking place on the May 27 episode of Dynamite. For those wondering about the new title’s look, it was noted on commentary that the final touches on the title have been delayed due to COVID-19.
