CM Punk: WWE Takes Outside Requests And Funnels It To One Person
CM Punk is a bit confused as to how third-party platform usage works in WWE.
WWE has cracked down on third-party platform usage in recent months as superstars have gone dark on Twitch and Cameo. However, Xavier Woods continues to run UpUpDownDown on YouTube and was recently announced as G4 host.
Woods being allowed to do those outside projects while Vega was fired for “breach of contract” over streaming and OnlyFans has Punk questioning how the system works.
“Does WWE get money from that?” Punk questioned when discussing Xavier’s G4 gig with Renee Paquette on Oral Sessions. “Why is it okay for him to do that but Zelina Vega can’t have Twitch? That was always my thing and I was labeled as a ‘complainer’ or ‘whiny.’ There’s always outside interest and not just for me. One person got a role, playing a wrestler because they knew someone producing a television show for a certain channel and when it got shuffled to the office, they were like, ‘No, you can’t do that.’ Next thing you know, John Cena is doing it. They would literally take every single request that came through and would funnel it to the one person that they wanted to be the face of the company.”
Punk noted that he was supposed to be on a WWE pinball game, but they said no. He also said THQ wanted him on the cover of WWE 13, but WWE offered Miz, Sheamus, and John Cena as the options. THQ didn’t relent and got Punk on the cover of the game.
Renee stated she pitched a cooking show that went to Bo Dallas and also pushed for a podcast as well.
Elsewhere on the podcast, Punk discussed the differences between Dana White and Vince McMahon. You can find his full comments by clicking here.
