CM Punk Recalls Story Of Danny Inferno Breaking His Nose In OVW
CM Punk fact checks Wikipedia.
CM Punk sat down with Loudwire to do a little Wikipedia fact-checking on his career. Underneath the Ohio Valley Wrestling section is written, “On September 26 in his OVW television debut, Punk suffered a ruptured eardrum and broken nose after Danny Inferno hit him with an overly stiff right hand.”
Is it true?
Punk answered, “My first match in Ohio Valley Wrestling. ‘Welcome to developmental, kid.’ That’s what that was. [They were trying to big-league me], but then he had to drive me to the hospital. And we had a conversation in the car, and I was like, ‘If we have a problem, we can pull over right now.’ (He replied), ‘No problem, brother. It was an accident.'”
While the story of Punk suffering a broken nose and ruptured eardrum is true, one fact is omitted from Wikipedia. Danny Inferno ended up getting the worst of the exchange.
Punk recalled, “I’m in the room getting checked out by the doctor. The doctor tells me [my nose is] broken, I have to wait for it to heal and then I have to come back (where) they re-break it and then set it. I was like, ‘What? I’ve had my nose broken already. Just set it.’ He was like, ‘We don’t do that.’ He left the room, I went into the bathroom and I set my nose myself. When I came back into the room, dude who punched me was sitting on the table. I asked, ‘What’s wrong with you?’ He was like, ‘I was sitting in the waiting room and my leg started to hurt.’ They MRI’d him. [Danny] tore his quad punching me in the face. That’s pretty instant karma. The most expensive punch thrown in OVW history.”
Danny Inferno is without a Wikipedia change, so we are unable to confirm if Punk’s side of the story is true.
Punk has been in the headlines plenty in recent weeks thanks to his reported testing with Fox for WWE Backstage. Punk confirmed he had tested on-camera for the position, but has since stated that he hasn’t heard anything in regards to the job. You can read his full comments by clicking here.
