CM Punk On How Long He’ll Be Out With Triceps Injury: We’re Thinking Six To Eight Months
CM Punk provides a timetable for how long he will be out of action with his torn triceps.
CM Punk provides a timetable for when he’s expected back in the ring.
At the 2024 Royal Rumble, CM Punk would make his Premium Live Event return to the ring for the Men’s Rumble match. However, disaster struck off a Future Shock DDT from Drew McIntyre as Punk suffered a torn right triceps. Punk would finish the match, being last eliminated by Cody Rhodes. On the RAW following the event, Punk announced his injury, revealing he would miss WrestleMania, and was attacked by McIntyre.
While attending UFC 298, Punk was interviewed backstage by Caroline Pearce. Punk would discuss missing out on WrestleMania 40, also providing a rough timetable for his return to the ring.
“You know, fingers crossed, yeah, I was going to headline WrestleMania. Obviously, now I’m not. But, you know, it’s sports. It’s what happens to athletes. Mentally, I think it’s harder because the physical pain is whatever. But I look at it just like a bump in the road. This is an occupational hazard. It happens and I’ll be back bigger and better. I’m a clumsy idiot. I tore my left triceps about two years ago, so the right one was jealous. I’m like an old cobbler. car. I’m like a 72 Nova, you know what I mean? We have to change some parts every now and again. So once we fix up all the parts, the engine’s still strong, we’ll still be good to go. We’re thinking maybe six to eight months, but I’m not really in a rush to get back to compete. I’m in a rush to get healthy. I’m in a rush to get better. The sooner I do that, the better I’ll be when I come back.”
Punk appeared at the WrestleMania Kickoff show, where he would repeatedly ask why people weren’t punching others in the face.
Elsewhere in the same interview, Punk looked back on working with The Rock in 2013. You can read more about that here.
