CM Punk On Almost Wrestling Steve Austin: Would’ve Been Short; GTS 1, 2, 3
CM Punk and Steve Austin have often been tied at the wrestling hip as both men were known for going against authority during their time on top in WWE.
Punk famously wore a Steve Austin shirt during his Pipe Bomb promo on June 27, 2011 and the two had a backstage confrontation just two weeks prior. During his Starrcast interview in 2019, Punk told the story of how he asked Austin if he could take a Stunner following a dark match, to which Austin agreed.
Rumors of a Punk vs. Austin match often circulated, but Austin making a comeback following his final match in 2003 never got past a rumor.
During a Twitter Q&A session on Friday afternoon, Punk was asked how a potential match with Austin would have played out years later.
Would’ve been short. GTS, 1 2 3.

Elsewhere during the Q&A, Punk answered questions about Goldberg, AEW, Edge, and more.
Super stoked for him to get a second act. And jealous of his abs.

I see five guys that have potential. Hobbs, Darbs, Pillman, Starks, Jungle Boy. And that’s not to say there are others, but those guys stick out.

FUN. Nice guy, and dedicated to his role.
