Clark Connors comments on his NJPW contract and emphasizes that he loves the company.

Connors has gradually risen to stardom in NJPW. He came up through the NJPW LA Dojo, and he had a breakout performance at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door, where he unsuccessfully competed for the AEW All-Atlantic Championship. Connors has been sidelined with a herniated disc, but he will return to the ring and face Minoru Suzuki at NJPW Rumble on 44th Street on October 28.

In a new interview with Sean Ross Sapp, Connors discussed his NJPW contract status. He stated that he loves the company, and his allegiances lie there as long as he gets to show the world what he can do. Connors also noted that he’s a businessman, and he would never say never to anything. He teased that big things are coming on his end, and it’s up to NJPW to hold up their side of the equation.

“I love New Japan. They’ve given me every opportunity in the world, but I’m also a businessman, don’t get me wrong. I would never say never to anything. I’d want to hear about it. It’s nice to know where you’re at in the wrestling world. But my allegiances are firmly in New Japan right now, as long as I get the chance to actually show what I can do and that’s all I got to say about that. I’ve been with the company for four years now under contract. Obviously the pandemic played a role in that. So we’ll see in 2023 and I know big things are coming on my end. So let’s see if they can hold up their end of the bargain, too. ‘Cause I want the best for everybody,” Connors said.

Connors was also asked to describe the hardest he’s ever been hit. He named a match against Tomoaki Honma and recalled how the veteran nailed him so hard his jaw shook. He joked that his right eye is still coming back into place in the aftermath of the blow.

“Oh, man. Dude, this might surprise you, Honma, recently when I wrestled him one on one. I did not see that coming. You see the way he hits, right? Very robotic and he’s got that hard neck. It’s the New Japan style, though. ‘Hit me. No, hit me harder. Hit me, hit me harder.’ I hit him as hard as I fucking could, dude. Then dude blasted me so hard my jaw shook and I think my right eye is still coming back into place. But yeah, that dude’s a real one. It was real great, though,” he said.

As noted, Connors will be in action at NJPW Rumble on 44th Street. The event will air on FITE TV. Check out the updated card here.

NEVER Openweight Champion Karl Anderson recently commented on his status for NJPW Battle Autumn on November 5. Check out his comments here.
