On the 7/4 edition of WWE Raw, The Miz took on AJ Styles in singles action. After Styles defeated Miz via pin after hitting a Phenomenal Forearm, Ciampa attacked him from behind. Styles was able to fight back and right before he hit Ciampa with a Styles Clash, Miz recovered and hit a Skull Crushing Finale on the Phenomenal One. After some hesitation, Ciampa shook hands with The Miz following the attack.
Ciampa has teased a partnership with The Miz for months now, as he attacked Mustafa Ali following his comeback match victory over Miz on the 4/25 edition of Raw.

Ciampa joined the Raw roster back in February. Since then, the former NXT Champion has had eight matches on the brand. Before that, Ciampa spent nearly seven years on the NXT brand where he won the NXT Championship twice and the NXT Tag Team Championships one time alongside Johnny Gargano as a part of D.I.Y.
