Chris Jericho: If AEW Did Live Events, Sting, Darby Allin, Sammy Guevara And I Could Work Around The Horn

In June, Sting and Chris Jericho came face-to-face, setting up a match against each other for the first time in their respective careers.

Though they didn’t compete in a single match, they had multiple tag team bouts, including a tornado tag that pitting Jericho & Sammy Guevara against Sting & Darby Allin on the June 28 episode of AEW Dynamite.

Speaking on Superstar Crossover with Josh Martinez, Jericho reflected on working with Sting.

“It was really fun. Yeah, it was good. I just couldn’t believe that after these careers, both of us have had over 30 years a piece we had never touched. Never even been in the same ring, ever. Our Director, Keith Mitchell, retired a year or two years ago, and Sting and I were in the ring to wish him well. It was the only time we were ever in the ring together ever. So I always knew that before he was done or I was done, that we needed to do something, and it was a short story, but it was it was a good story. It was fun. I love the way it ended with the No DQ Match, whatever we did, the Tornado Match, in Hamilton, Ontario, of all places. That was a great way to end that little chapter. We don’t do live events in AEW. If we did live events, Sting and I, Darby, and Sammy probably could work around the horn for months. It was that easy of a match. You know, when you get to that point of a guy who’s been around that long, people just get excited by the possibility of us touching, and it was a lot of fun. Very cool,” he said.

Sting & Darby were victorious in the tornado tag match.

Jericho and Guevara are still aligned, but will face each other at AEW Dynamite Grand Slam. After the decide who the better man is, they have agreed to go after the tag team titles together.

Fightful will have live coverage of AEW Dynamite Grand Slam beginning at 8 p.m. ET.
