Here is your fight size update for WWE Friday Night SmackDown and AEW Rampage on Friday, January 19, 2024.

WWE SmackDown

– The Unholy Union (Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn) challenged Kayden Carter and Katana Chance for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship. Bayley joined the commentary team for the match. Carter and Chance clinched the win. After the bell, Asuka and Kairi Sane confronted them and teased their interest in the titles. 

– Bobby Lashley and the Street Profits (Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins) sent a message to The Final Testament (Karrion Kross, Authors of Pain, Paul Ellering, and Scarlett). Lashley told them to name the time and place. 

– The LWO (Carlito, Joaquin Wilde, and Cruz Del Toro) faced Legado Del Fantasma (Santos Escobar, Angel, and Humberto). In the end, Escobar pinned Carlito for the win.

– AJ Styles, LA Knight, Randy Orton, and Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns were set to sign the contract for their title match at WWE Royal Rumble. Instead of Reigns, Paul Heyman came out and noted that they had not had a chance to have an attorney look at the contract. Aldis said he could have the three contenders compete for the vacant title. LA Knight told Heyman to shut up and threatened to cut bacon off his back. Tensions rose between Knight and Styles, and they brawled. 

– Randy Orton vowed to beat Solo Sikoa and re-introduce Roman Reigns to the three most dangerous letters in all of sports entertainment. 

– Pretty Deadly (Elton Prince and Kit Wilson) faced Butch and Tyler Bate. Butch returned to his original name, Pete Dunne, and led his team to victory.

WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins will provide an update on his future on WWE RAW.

– Kevin Owens hosted the KO Show with WWE United States Champion Logan Paul as his guest. Paul noted that Owens hitting him with a Stunner at WrestleMania 37 was the reason he was in WWE. Owens said Paul was only one person of the many he had hit with a Stunner. He gave Paul credit for his growth but said he’s not one of “us.” Paul said he was nothing like any of them, as he highlighted his own success. Owens vowed to put an end to Paul’s title reign at WWE Royal Rumble. Paul punched Owens, but he got up. They brawled, and Paul slammed Owens’ injured hand into the steel ring post

– AJ Styles faced LA Knight. Jimmy Uso came down, and Sikoa attacked both Knight and Sikoa. 

– Solo Sikoa clashed with Randy Orton. During the match, LA Knight and Jimmy Uso fought off Jimmy Uso. Orton hit Sikoa with the RKO for the win. 

– AJ Styles and LA Knight confronted Randy Orton. Knight dropped Styles, and Orton hit Knight with the RKO. Roman Reigns blindsided Orton and signed the contract. Orton hit him with an RKO.

– The Final Testament continued to target Bobby Lashley and the Street Profits. Kross said they did not get the same type of opportunities because they were the disruptors. He challenged Lashley and the Street Profits to meet them face-to-face.

– Austin Theory confronted Carmelo Hayes, setting up a match for the following week.

Cody Rhodes addressed the live crowd after SmackDown went off the air.

Roman Reigns said he did not like Nick Aldis.

– In a SmackDown Exclusive, Santos Escobar called Angel and Humberto his true family.

– Carlito vowed to show Santos Escobar that actions have consequences.

– Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn commented on their loss.

AEW Rampage

– Chris Jericho faced Matt Sydal and scored the hard-fought win. Konosuke Takeshita attacked Jericho after the bell, and they brawled until they were separated.

– Darby Allin faced Jeff Hardy. Allin scored the win, and Hardy refused to shake his hand after the bell.

– Saraya argued with Ruby Soho. Soho angrily confronted Harley Cameron.

– Backstage, Jay Lethal was supposed to meet with Jeff Jarrett, but “Double J” was nowhere to be found. Lethal said he wanted to get back to great in-ring action. Dutt replied that it was time to kick Karen out of the team. Lethal emphasized that they were arguing over stupid stuff. 

– Kris Statlander faced Queen Aminata. Stokely Hathaway accompanied Statlander to the ring. Statlander ultimately emerged victorious. 

– In an interview, Kris Statlander, alongside Stokely Hathaway, was asked about her win. Willow Nightingale arrived and noted that her flight was canceled. She said someone canceled her trip. Hathaway made it out to be a sign that Nightingale was not a good friend. Statlander said they would figure it out. 

– Penta El Zero Miedo defeated Anthony Henry. 

 

Jon Moxley will face Shane Taylor on the January 20 episode of AEW Collision, and Thunder Rosa will return to singles action.
