Chris Jericho Would Be Open To Taking Part In 2024 AEW Continental Classic If Tony Khan Asks Him To
Chris Jericho talks about the AEW Continental Classic Tournament and his desire to potentially compete in next year’s tournament.
From being the first AEW World Champion to competing in the first AEW Blood & Guts Match. There are several firsts that Chris Jericho has taken part in in All Elite Wrestling.
However, the eight-time World Champion is not taking part in the inaugural AEW Continental Classic Tournament due to his current issues with the Don Callis Family as well as current AEW Tag Team Champions, Big Bill & Ricky Starks. Still, just because Jericho is not taking part in the inaugural tournament doesn’t mean he wouldn’t be open to the idea should the tournament return in 2024.
Speaking to Joey Hayden of the Dallas Morning News, “The Ocho” gave his thoughts on the ongoing tournament and confirmed he was never asked to be part of this year’s lineup.
“I mean, I’ll do whatever, man. Whatever my boss wants me to do, I’ll make it great. And the Continental Classic — I didn’t know about it until I think Tony told me a little bit before [it began] and didn’t ask me to be in it, and I didn’t ask to be in it. Because we’re doing the storyline with Kenny and with Don,” said Jericho. “With that sort of side of the coin, and the thing with the Young Bucks going on, it really wouldn’t have made sense right now for me to be in it, but it’s been great. I mean, I think every match has been good to very good to excellent. I think everybody in the tournament is really showing who they are and whether you’re winning or losing, everybody wins when you have a great match. So is it something that I would be interested in doing next year? Of course, I think it’d be awesome to do next year. If it comes around that Tony wants me to be in it, I’ll be in it.”
Bryan Danielson recently revealed that he wanted Chris Jericho’s current tag team partner, Kenny Omega, to be part of the inaugural tournament lineup. Learn more here.
