Chris Jericho Agrees Some AEW Matches Go Too Long
Chris Jericho knows AEW isn’t perfect, but he continues to preach patience when it comes to the product.
Since its TNT premiere on Oct. 2, AEW Dynamite’s viewership has suffered drops throughout its twelve-week run. Premiering to 1.4 million viewers, Dynamite was down to 683,000 viewers on Wednesday, losing to NXT in the 18 to 49 demographic ratings for the first time since the two have gone head-to-head.
The shows remain generally well-received, though more criticism has come to light in recent weeks. Two issues some fans seem to have are the lack of video packages and the length of matches. And AEW World Champion Chris Jericho hears those complaints loud and clear.
“We have to get more promo pieces and video packages to explain who the people are. People complain about that, a lot of fans complain about it. Like I keep saying, it’s only been eight weeks. You can’t build a roster of 50 people in eight weeks. Give it some time. We have to be different. Some of our matches go too long, I agree,” Jericho said on the Keepin It 100 podcast.
AEW has started to do more video packages on Dynamite compared to the first few weeks. They’ve also mixed in more squash matches in recent weeks.
