Chris Hemsworth To Play Hulk Hogan In Biopic; Movie Will Focus On Origin Of Hulkamania
A Hulk Hogan biopic is headed our way.
The Hollywood Reporter reports that Chris Hemsworth is set to play the part of Hulk Hogan in an upcoming biopic about the famed wrestlers’ life. Eric Bischoff was named as one of the producers.
Todd Phillips, Scott Silver, and John Pollono are reportedly set to co-write the film. THR reports that “deals for the Hogan project are in the midst of closing with Netflix.” Michael Sugar and Bradley Cooper, along with Hemsworth, were also named as producers.
THR reports that “the biopic will not delve into” Hogan’s racist remarks that came to light in 2015 or his 2016 lawsuit against Gawker over a leaked sex tape. Sources say the movie will focus on Hogan’s rise and is described “as an origin story of the Hulkster and Hulkamania.”
Hogan rose to prominence in the mid-80s following his WWF World Heavyweight Title victory on January 23, 1984, over The Iron Shiek. Hogan would spend 1,474 days as World Champion and go on to headline the first three WrestleMania events while breaking into pop culture.
