Charlotte Flair Says She Does Not Think About Becoming A 16-Time Women’s Champion
Charlotte Flair is not worried about hitting her father’s historic title win record.
“The Queen” Charlotte Flair is currently sitting at nine championship wins in WWE. WWE does not count Charlotte’s NXT Women’s Title win to that number so the company views her as an eight-time champion which makes Charlotte eight title wins away from tying her father Ric Flair‘s record of 16 World Championships.
Charlotte had an opportunity to win her ninth title on the main roster at WrestleMania 35 as she walked into the main event of the show and put her SmackDown Women’s Championship on the line against Becky Lynch and Ronda Rousey who put her RAW Women’s Championship on the line to make the match a winner take all bout. Becky Lynch emerged victorious from the match to become a double champion and prior to WrestleMania, Charlotte Flair spoke with TMZ Sports about being in the main event and also being close to tying Ric Flair‘s world title record. Charlotte stated that she does not think about hitting that mark and for her, it is all about stealing the show every night.
“No, I did tweet my dad, ‘I’m halfway there’.” Charlotte laughed. “No, I don’t think about that. To me, it’s not about the title. I mean, I love holding the title because I always wanna be champ. It’s just getting better, it’s evolving, having the opportunity to have been a good guy the last couple of months and then finally get to be back where I’m best at and that’s being bad and… I don’t know…. Just stealing the show every night. That’s what I wanna do.”
Following the main event of WrestleMania, reports surfaced that the finish of the match did not go according to plan and to read more about that, click here.
