Charlotte Flair: ‘It Was A Pleasure To Work With Toni Storm, She Is A Star’
Charlotte Flair is reflecting on her current title reign and addressing criticisms.
Charlotte Flair has been WWE Women’s Champion more than 10 times, between all three brands. When that happens, sometimes wrestlers become the target of criticism for simply being in the top spot so frequently. Speaking with Graham GSM Matthews of Bleacher Report, Charlotte Flair addressed criticisms of her current championship reign and put over matches with herself and Naomi and the brief program she had with Toni Storm before Toni was released by WWE.
“For me, I think I would’ve liked to have more title defenses on pay-per-views, but under certain circumstances… It was cool being champion going into the Royal Rumble because that’s never happened before [with the women],” Flair said. “Having that match with Naomi, I’ve been waiting for that match for five years now and we were finally able to have it on SmackDown last month. I thought that was incredible. It’s so cliche, but that was only a taste of what we can do. It was only one match. That was special for me. With Survivor Series [vs. Lynch], all I can say is that number one doesn’t talk about number two, but it was fun to revisit that bitter best friend [storyline].”
Charlotte Flair is of the belief that after her match with Ronda Rousey in the main event of night one of WrestleMania 38, any criticisms and anything that has happened in the past will be just that, a thing of the past. She does, however, put over Toni Storm and say that she believes the former WWE Superstar is very talented and destined for stardom no matter what.
“I think whatever I’ve done throughout this entire run will be forgotten about after WrestleMania,” she said. “I hate to say that because I loved working with Naomi and it was a pleasure being able to face Toni. I wish her the best. She has so much talent and is a star. I think, for me, everything will be forgotten once WrestleMania happens.”
Charlotte Flair can also be seen every Friday night on WWE SmackDown. Fightful has live SmackDown coverage beginning every Friday night at 8 pm.
