Charlotte Flair Discussing Her Upcoming WrestleMania Match With Asuka: “I Have Goosebumps Sitting Here Thinking About It”
The two titans will clash next Sunday.
At WrestleMania 34 in a mere seven days "The Queen" and "The Empress Of Tomorrow" will do battle over the SmackDown Live Women's Championship. The undefeated Asuka blazed through the Women's Royal Rumble match back in January and although it took her a few weeks to make a decision, she ultimately choose to challenge the head honcho of SmackDown Live's women's division Charlotte Flair.
Flair is not backing down from the challenge as she told SPORTBible before heading into what some are calling a "dream match" at the "Show Of Shows".
"It's crazy because I can remember being on stage for Triple H's entrance and being so nervous and so overwhelmed. With the sea of people, [I was thinking], 'how do they do this?', I just couldn't grasp that at that time." Charlotte shared. "Knowing now that I'm heading into the same place as the champion in the biggest match of my career versus someone with a streak, and having been there and watched The Undertaker's streak be broken, it's crazy how life comes full circle and it just goes to show that anything can happen."
Other than their match at WrestleMania, Asuka & Charlotte have never clashed in the squared circle. Once Asuka made her debut in NXT Charlotte was already on the main roster. It was inevitable before the two powerhouses met and Charlotte is elated to be able to be in the ring with someone the likes of Asuka on the big stage.
"I think there are a lot of great matches but the fact that Asuka and I have never touched, we have never been in the ring together, and what she represents; her entrance, her style and her own Japanese legacy versus my legacy, even saying 'The Queen vs The Empress', it's very exciting. I have goosebumps sitting here thinking about it. I want it to be the match of my career; that's how important this night is to me."
