Charlotte Flair Discusses The Reaction She Received Following Her WrestleMania Match Against Asuka
Charlotte loved the backstage reaction.
On April 8th inside of the Mercedes Benz-Superdome in New Orleans on a night that featured fourteen matches in total, one of those fourteen matches were for the SmackDown Live Women’s Championship as the champion Charlotte Flair defended the title against a woman who up until that point was undefeated for 914 days throughout her time in WWE, Asuka.
Other than the finish the match itself was praised by those who viewed it and both competitors were given their props by the public on social media. While guest appearing on Busted Open Radio with Dave LaGreca and WWE Hall Of Famer Mark Henry, Charlotte Flair spoke about her WrestleMania match with Asuka and commented on the reaction she received from her colleagues following the anticipated bout.
“Oh I think everyone was extremely happy for me in the moment, and the entrance was cool and for me, it was having a few of the guys that I respect a lot come up to me at TV the following week and just saying like, ‘Hey, that was a really great match’. That’s what meant a lot to me because I feel like the women are always, you know, seeking the men’s approval or what they thought or you know like when we had the Ladder match at the last pay-per-view [Money In The Bank].” Charlotte continued, “Obviously we wanted to outdo the boys so that just always feels good having fellow talent tell you that you did a great job. But most importantly, that Vince thinks you did a great job.”
