Charlotte Flair Defeats Asuka, Wins SmackDown Women’s Title On SmackDown Live
The Queen is back on her throne.
On tonight’s episode of SmackDown Live, Charlotte Flair forced Asuka to tap out to the Figure 8, winning the SmackDown Women’s Title in an unscheduled bout. Fightful Select reported prior to SmackDown that Asuka would be defending her title.
Many thought WWE would be crowning a new Number One Contender to Asuka’s title on SmackDown as Naomi, Carmella, Sonya Deville, and Mandy Rose were scheduled to meet in a fatal four-way with the winner facing Asuka at WrestleMania.
Instead, Charlotte Flair wanted to prove herself two weeks out from WrestleMania and ended up challenging Asuka for the SmackDown Women’s Title in a WrestleMania 34 rematch. The bout was a back-and-forth affair, but just like she did one year again, The Queen reigned supreme.
