Charlotte Crowned New Women’s Champion On Smackdown, Ric Flair Appears To Celebrate

A new champion crowed on Smackdown tonight changes a match for Survivor Series this Sunday.

With just days remaining before Survivor Series, Charlotte won the Smackdown Women's title, defeating Natalya with the figure eight after escaping the sharpshooter. This marks the first time she has held the Smackdown version of the Women's title. Natalya had held on to the title for 86 days, defeating Naomi back at SummerSlam on August 20.

She cut a promo after the match, saying that ever since she won the Superstar Shakeup this was her dream, and it was awesome to win it front of her hometown of Charlotte, North Carolina. She then said a few nice words about her father before heading up the ramp.

Before she could, however, Ric Flair's music hit. He came out and hugged his daughter as the two celebrated in an emotional moment. This would be the first time Ric Flair appeared on WWE programing since his medical issues from earlier this year.

Charlotte and Natalya had been feuding for the last month, facing one another at Hell in a Cell. That match ended in disqualification when Natalya attacked Charlotte with a steel chair. It was announced last week that Charlotte would get one last crack at the title before Survivor Series goes down this Sunday.

This officially makes the Survivor Series champion vs. champion match Smackdown women's champion Charlotte vs. Raw women's champion Alexa Bliss.
