Chad Gable Calls Daniel Bryan His One Dream Opponent That Is Still Active
Chad Gable recently dropped the moniker of Shorty G and now, he is setting his sights on checking some items off of his bucket list.
After spending a year as Shorty G, Chad Gable “quit” that life in favor of being true to himself and now, he is looking at realistic goals for his near future and for him, there is one match that he feels will allow him to showcase his abilities like no other.
Speaking with Corey Graves on the WWE After the Bell podcast, Chad Gable (via WrestleZone) reveals that before Daniel Bryan retires, he wants a chance to wrestle him with a major prize at stake, preferably the Intercontinental Championship.
“I’m not gonna say, ‘three months from now, I should be Universal Champion,’ because I don’t think that we make those kinds of jumps immediately. I do see that for myself long-term because you have to or else what are you doing? But I am very happy that I stayed on SmackDown because we have the Intercontinental title, which I think would be a great starting point for me as a singles guy,” said Gable.
He continued, “I want to get in that mix. I want to get in the mix with the guys that hold that title, that defend it all the time, and we know who I’m talking about. There’s guys like [Daniel] Bryan on our show, who I have not had a chance to wrestle yet on TV, especially in a singles match. He’s like my dream opponent that’s still wrestling. Like before he’s done, and I don’t know how long he has left or how long he plans on wrestling [but] before he’s done, I want to have that match with Bryan, whether it’s for the IC title — whatever it’s for. I want to have that match with stakes on it and I can show the world what I’m capable of.”
Daniel Bryan recently revealed on an episode of Talking Smack that he considers his current run his final run as a full-time competitor. Learn more at this link.
