Cesaro: ‘We The People’ Was Our Idea And It’s Still Over
Not bad creative?
During his promo on at the Oct. 9 episode of AEW Dynamite, Chris Jericho shut down a “We The People” chant by saying, “‘We The People’ sucks. It’s dead and buried. It was a stupid idea from bad creative and all of that’s gone.” The “We The People” phrase was popularized by Jake Hager (Jack Swagger in WWE) and Cesaro during their time as a tag team.
Speaking to Sportskeeda, Cesaro revealed that “We The People” may not have been an idea from “bad creative.”
“I was lucky to be in some very great tag teams with people I’ve gotten along with tremendously well: Jack Swagger, Tyson Kidd and Sheamus. ‘We The People’, by the way… That was our idea and it’s still over!”
Despite the phrase being “dead and buried” by Jericho on Oct. 9, Hager used the saying as part of his Bellator entrance on Oct. 25.
Known as a tag team specialist in WWE, Cesaro finds himself as a singles competitor right now with Sheamus on the shelf. There is no timetable for Sheamus’ return.
“It’s great, being part of a tag team is a different challenge than obviously having success as a singles. I’m really stubborn about trying to be successful as a singles wrestler, so that’s what I’m focusing on right now,” he said. “I still talk to Sheamus pretty much every day, giving each other c**p! Just like you saw on television.”
Cesaro teamed with Shinsuke Nakamura on the Nov. 8 episode of WWE SmackDown, picking up a victory over Ali and Shorty G. You can find full results from SmackDown by clicking here.
