Duran, who was formerly featured as Dario Cueto in Lucha Underground, has been working with MLW since 2021. He has been the company’s matchmatcher, and he is also the proprietor of Azteca Underground. On the February 21 episode of MLW Underground, Duran introduced John Hennigan as his newest signing.

Speaking with Scott Fishman for SEScoops, Duran expressed his interest in growing Azteca Underground and incorporating more of the lucha libre style into the MLW product. He also expressed his confidence that MLW Underground will draw viewers away from other wrestling shows.

“They are going to make this show something that will take the audience from other promotions very fast. You wait and see. That’s what I’m looking forward to. We are having a big component of lucha libre to MLW. The audience will love it. I’m trying to put more lucha libre style into the mix,” Duran said.

Duran also shared his thoughts on the growth of MLW, given the recent premiere of MLW Underground on REELZ, and stated that he thinks it has a bright future. He noted that everyone wants to make it a “big thing”
