Cedric Alexander On The Perception Of Cruiserweights: Jon Jones Is 205 Pounds And He’s A Monster

205 Live and the Cruiserweight division have long been cast aside by WWE when it comes to featuring those talents on Raw or SmackDown.

Cedric Alexander was a 205 Live mainstay and one of the highlights of the division from 2016 to 2019 when he was drafted to Raw. Until joining up with the Hurt Business recently, Alexander struggled to find his footing on Raw.

Speaking to Alex McCarthy of TalkSPORT, Cedric discussed WWE having issues in highlighting cruiserweights on the main roster.

“Yes, sometimes that’s a thing [not having plans for cruiserweights]. It goes back to the perception ‘oh, you’re a cruiserweight. You’re not that big so you won’t do that well.’ That’s a perception a lot of people have when in actuality, I’m currently about 210lbs. I’m just as big as a good portion of the guys on the roster – not the giants obviously! – but I’m not a small man. A 210lb man is not a small individual. You gotta understand that just because you’re in that weight range doesn’t mean you can’t hurt somebody pretty bad. Jon Jones has been 205lbs! He’s a monster! For me, your weight means nothing, but it’s a perception people have that means you can’t do it. Look at Rey Mysterio. He’s way under 200lbs and he’s one of the greatest of all-time. It’s just a perception we need to relax and say if you’e great, you’re great. Daniel Bryan is a prime example that size means nothing,” he said.

Cedric has found new life as a member of The Hurt Business alongside Bobby Lashley, MVP, and Shelton Benjamin on WWE Raw.

Fightful will have live coverage of WWE Raw beginning at 8 p.m. ET.
