Cathy Kelley Had Talks With AEW During WWE Absence
The talent war has extended further than just wrestlers, it would appear.
Fightful reported recently that Renee Paquette would be headed to AEW before her eventual signing announcement. Give Me Sport’s Louis’ Dangoor had heard that WWE had reached out, but Renee passed on the offer. Another broadcaster went the opposite direction.
Cathy Kelley returned to WWE, with the company announcing she’s rejoining as an interviewer. Fightful sources had indicated earlier this year that Cathy had conversations with All Elite Wreslting. We’re told that included speaking to Tony Khan directly at some point about the possibility of working there, and that things actually looked promising. However, that didn’t end up happening. We haven’t learned why that was the case or what side ended up keeping it from going down, or how far talks actually got.
We’re told Kelley and AEW remained on solid terms before she headed back to WWE. Triple H’s regime was said to have made it a priority to bring Cathy back, who had been open to a return to wrestling.
