The Butcher: PAC & I Celebrated The Match Between Suzuki & Danielson Like It Was A Super Bowl Win
The Butcher recalls celebrating with PAC after Bryan Danielson and Minoru Suzuki squared off in All Elite Wrestling.
The match between Danielson and Suzuki occurred on the pre-show for the September 15, 2021 edition of AEW Rampage. The bout, which was one of Danielson’s first in AEW, is still talked about to this day, as many fans view it as one of the best matches in company history.
As it turns out, the match was celebrated just as much in the locker room. In a recent interview with Sam Roberts, The Butcher recalled celebrating the match backstage with PAC like his team had won the Super Bowl.
“There was a match, you might remember this, it was Danielson vs. Suzuki. Me and PAC watched it together and hugged after like our team won the Super Bowl. There was only one bump in the entire match and it was a back drop at the very end, leading into the finish. The match was all crowd work. They just did little detail, little detail and then it culminated into a backdrop, into a submission or whatever the finish was. What a beautiful match. You see the fine strokes. You understand why these dudes are the artists that they are.”
Long live the graps.
Suzuki has since wrestled matches in AEW against the likes of Darby Allin, Samoa Joe, Chris Jericho, QT Marshall, and Eddie Kingston.
Elsewhere in the interview, The Butcher talked about how he and The Blade were brought into AEW. Fans can learn more by clicking here.
