Buddy Murphy Reflecting On His Cruiserweight Title Win At WWE Super Show-Down: “It Was WrestleMania For Me”

Buddy did his home-country and city proud.

This past Saturday at WWE Super Show-Down in Melbourne Australia, Melbourne’s own Buddy Murphy made his family, friends and country proud when he defeated Cedric Alexander in a ten-minute sprint to become the new WWE Cruiserweight Champion. Buddy Murphy loaded Alexander up for his signature “Murphy’s Law” finishing maneuver and as the referee’s hand hit the mat for the third time the crowd inside of the Melbourne Cricket Ground erupted as their guy was now holding championship gold in WWE.

In the midst of all the excitement that was running through the body of Murphy at the time, he spoke with his home-country news outlet Yahoo! Australia shortly after his title win and discussed being the new Cruiserweight Champion and winning the title in front of his loved ones.

“It’s pretty indescribable,” he said later. “It was WrestleMania for me. I captured what I said I was going to capture, the Cruiserweight Championship, and I did it in front of my friends and my family, and everyone that didn’t believe in me, everyone that laughed at me for wanting to pursue this career of professional wrestling and as a sports entertainer. This was a special moment for me, and I wanted to share this with the people I love,” he said. “That proved that all the blood, all the sweat, all the tears were worth it. Going through NXT and being lost in the dark so to speak, not really having a direction or seeing a light at the end of the tunnel. Tonight was the light at the end of the tunnel.”
