Bryan Danielson: There’s An Extra Amount Of Joy Given The Freedom In AEW

Bryan Danielson enjoys his newfound freedom in the AEW ring.

Danielson has been on a tear in AEW, going to a 30-minute draw with former AEW World Champion Kenny Omega in his first match and having hard-hitting affairs with the likes of Nick Jackson, Eddie Kingston, Minoru Suzuki, and Bobby Fish.

Danielson previously noted that he joined AEW because he saw it as a challenge, saying he felt he could sleepwalk through his WWE matches.

Speaking at the AEW Full Gear media scrum, Danielson was asked if he’s had trouble readjusting to the new freedom he has in AEW.

“So, I don’t know. You say having trouble adjusting, I don’t feel — I feel such a sense of joy when I’m wrestling but when I say that, I’ve kind of felt that since I came back from retirement. So even within the limitations, and there’s always limitations when it comes to wrestling on TV. You have certain times, all that kind of stuff. You’re never going to be able to go out and do whatever you want. It just doesn’t work like that, right? But I feel like there is a certain amount of joy in just being able to do this thing that I love and there’s an extra amount of joy given the freedom we have here in AEW to do kind of what I want within what are always going to be limitations,” said Bryan.

Danielson became the number one contender to the AEW World Title at AEW Full Gear, defeating Miro in the finals of the AEW World Title Eliminator Tournament.
