Brutus ‘The Barber’ Beefcake On The Popularity Of Scissoring: The Scissors Are So Powerful

Brutus “The Barber” Beefcake considers the popularity of scissoring a compliment.

Brutus “The Barber” Beefcake considers the popularity of scissoring a compliment.

Beefcake, a WWE Hall of Famer, famously cut people’s hair and used a “snipping” gesture at some points in his career. Decades after he competed at WrestleMania IV, The Acclaimed (Max Caster & Anthony Bowens) and Builly Gunn have turned scissoring into the most over taunt in wrestling. Arenas full of fans chant “Scissor me, Daddy Ass” along with Bowens.

During an appearance on Good Karma Wrestling (@GKW_Wrestling), Beefcake shared his thoughts on the popularity of scissoring.

“It’s a big compliment for me because at least they aren’t trying to be a barber. The scissors are just so over and so powerful that you can’t hardly blame them for wanting to bring them back and utilize them,” Beefcake said.

The legend also reflected on his Hall of Fame induction and noted that he was starting to think it was never going to happen. He made it clear that he’s thankful for the career he has had and the recognition he has received.

“I was beginning to think it was never going to happen. About 10 years ago, somebody called from the WWE building, it was on my phone, the caller ID. They left a message about me being in the Hall of Fame, that was about 10 years ago. Everybody got all excited. Everyone was going crazy. Turns out it was a prank call. After that, I was like, ‘Ok, don’t know who I made mad or pissed off. Being patient pays off.’ I was a patient fisherman. When they called, they had Sports Illustrated who they wanted to do a big release to announce me. They had the Hulkster come out…. My career has just been so tremendously blessed,” he said.

Joey Janela previously stated that Beefcake refused to cut Invisible Man’s hair. More information is available here.

Arn Anderson recently noted that, if Billy Gunn thinks scissoring is cool, it must be working to some extent. Check out his comments here.

The Acclaimed will celebrate Billy Gunn’s birthday on the November 2 episode of AEW Dynamite, and there will likely be plenty of scissoring. More information is available here.
