Bruce Prichard: “Vince Does Things And He Moves On”
Vince McMahon is not a fan of watching the same thing over and over.
During a recent Q&A episode of his Something to Wrestle podcast (via AdFreeShows), Bruce Prichard, who serves as the Executive Director of both WWE Raw and SmackDown, commented on whether or not Vince McMahon has a favorite match that he could watch repeatedly.
“No,” said Prichard. “I think Vince looks at things and Vince moves on. It’s not anything that he would really want to go back and watch anything over and over again. I think that Vince does things and then he moves on.”
A common criticism of WWE programming recently has been their penchant for booking rematches. Whether it be on SmackDown or Raw, Superstars have been locked in feuds for months on end, facing the same combination of people week after week.
Bruce continued on, saying that, in his opinion, there is only one match that Vince might call a favorite or consider as WWE’s best ever.
“Just when you look at it, the only thing that even remotely fits that is [Hulk] Hogan/Andre [the Giant],” he said.
Vince recently spoke about Andre and Hogan’s WrestleMania III showdown on the June 13 episode of WWE’s Most Wanted Treasures, saying the following:
“Andre was doing the film, Princess Bride and was dying. Andre was dying and he was okay with it and I wasn’t. So I convinced him, I said, ‘Well, okay, how much time do you think you really have left?’ Of course, he’d just drink himself to death or come back and you’ll train at my house and face Hogan in the main event at WrestleMania III.”
“He never really wanted to be a heel. He always wanted to be a good guy. Once he was into it, it really became natural to him and he loved it… He was so proud of himself, oh my God, he was so proud of himself.”
