The September 13 episode of WWE NXT 2.0 celebrated the one-year anniversary of the brand’s launch. NXT was rebranded under the new banner on September 13, 2021. On that show, Breakker debuted and quickly established himself as a buzzworthy prospect. He went on to challenge Tommasso Ciampa for the NXT Championship at Halloween Havoc, and while he came up short, he cemented his status as a rising star.

Breakker won the gold by beating Ciampa at NXT New Year’s Evil 2022. He then lost it to Dolph Ziggler but regained it on the April 4 episode of WWE Raw. Since then, he has successfully retained the championship and continued to build his legacy as the face of the brand.

Fans had the opportunity to vote for the Superstar of the Year, and Breakker won the poll, as announced during Tuesday’s episode.
