Britt Baker On Now Being Received Positively By Fans: ‘They Grew With Me’

Britt Baker reflects on her evolution now that she sits at the mountaintop.

Much has happened since Britt Baker became the first woman signed to AEW in 2019. Once a bright babyface rejected by the audience, Britt Baker found her place as a villain and is now embraced by the audience who let out a raucous ovation as she captured the AEW Women’s World Championship from Hikaru Shida at Double or Nothing 2021.

When asked by Sean Ross Sapp at the post-show media scrum how she feels about the differing reactions from the audience now that they have watched her evolve on television, Britt Baker credited the fans’ front-row seat to that evolution as the reasoning behind the change in reaction.

“Of course I have mixed feelings about it because there was a lot of harsh criticism early on, and that’s fine. Maybe some people were right and maybe I wasn’t ready, but I learned how to be a TV wrestler and a TV entertainer in front of the world. That was my growing process and everybody got to see it. Some of those fans [have been around for the whole journey], that is why they changed their tune because they got to grow with me and now I am one of the best women’s wrestlers on the planet.”

Britt Baker would also say that she plans on continuing the same path for her character as that is what has worked for her but in the immediate, she would be celebrating with her family and taking the championship to her dental office at the request of her staff.
