Britt Baker: ‘Jerry Lynn Is Who I Go To For All My Matches, My Promos, Everything.’
Britt Baker talks about her relationship with Jerry Lynn.
Britt Baker, the first women’s wrestler to put pen-to-paper for AEW, has continued to grow as a performer and is the current AEW Women’s World Champion. Along the way, she has worked closely with the coaches in AEW. Over the last year, Baker says she has worked closely with Jerry Lynn more than any other coach. Baker even shouted out the former ECW Television Champion in a tweet after she won several Pro Wrestling Illustrated Awards.
Last one, I promise! Having Jerry as my coach has been one of my favorite parts of 2021. Jerry is truly one of AEW’s secret weapons and he’s probably had a hand in most of your favorite matches. I owe so much of my growth as a wrestler to @itsjerrylynn.

Now, speaking to Robbie Fox on My Mom’s Basement, Britt Baker elaborated on her relationship with Jerry Lynn, saying that he has helped her with every aspect of the game and that Jerry has worked on many of the top matches in AEW.
“So specifically within the last year a little bit over a year he has been like my coach, like my main coach. That’s who I go to for all my matches, my promos, everything, he has helped me, maybe more than anyone has in the last year specifically with like wrestling and just coming into my own as an in-ring performer. He is a genius. I said in my tweet, he’s really one of AEW’s secret weapons, and if you rattle off some of your favorite matches in AEW, there’s a huge chance that he was a coach or had some sort of hand in it. He’s so so good. Everybody loves working with him and he’s fun, he just makes wrestling fun. He’s very light-hearted, he tells horrible dad jokes all the time, and it’s like the horrible dad joke that you need to hear right before you’re about to go through the curtain.”
Jerry is also going to be honored for his work inside the with an induction in the first-ever indie Wrestling Hall of Fame class. The ceremony, presented by GCW will take place on Saturday, January 22. Learn more here.
Elsewhere on the podcast, Baker gives credit to another person she has worked closely with, Johnny Gargano. Read more here.
