Bret Hart Files Lawsuit Against Doctor, Alleges That Surgery Left Him Without Proper Function In His Right Hand

Bret Hart is unable to use part of his right hand, and is suing for damages.

According to the Calgary Sun, Bret Hart has sued Dr. Justin Yeung, a plastic surgeon who preformed surgery on him on November 23, 2015 on his wrist, which he injured back in 1981. Three weeks later, he returned to Yeung and complained of swelling and pain. He noted that his right index finger and thumb did not function anymore. The doctor told him he should wait and see how he healed. Hart continued to experience pain, visiting the doctor in March, April and August of 2016.

The suit says that Yeung and other members of the surgery team failed to provide the right medical care for Hart.

“The defendants were negligent, breached the duties of care they owed to Mr. Hart and breached their agreement with (him)" the lawsuit says.

Specific incidents of negligence were included in the suit, saying that  “a tourniquet on Mr. Hart’s right arm on too long, such that the circulation of the nerves and tendons to his right thumb and index finger were damaged by a prolonged insufficient supply of oxygen.”

The suit also says that as a results of these disabilities, Hart has been unable to use his right hand to pick up objects, and can't properly dress himself without assistance.

He last appeared for WWE back at Payback 2016, where he was in Natalya's corner as she took on Charlotte, with Ric Flair in her corner.
